Minimum Support Price
Scheme
The Minimum Support Price (MSP) Scheme is a scheme of the
Government of India (GOI) to safeguard the interests of the farmers. Under this
Scheme the GOI declares the minimum support Prices of various agricultural produces
and assures the farmers that their agricultural produce (of FAQ) will be purchased
at the MSP, thereby preventing its distress sale. The Food Corporation of India
(FCI) acts as the Nodal Agency of the GOI. On behalf of FCI, in Maharashtra, the
MSP Scheme is implemented through the State agencies.
Kharif Marketing Season 2012-13
In Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2012-13, The Maharashtra State Co-op Marketing Federation (in non-tribal areas) and Maharashtra State Co-op Tribal Development Corporation, (in tribal areas of Thane, Nashik, Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Ahmednagar, Pune, Nanded, Amravati, Yeotmal, Nagpur, Gondia, Chandrapur & Gadchiroli districts) has been appointed as procurement agencies for procurement of paddy & coarse grains viz. Jowar, Bajara & Maize. The State Government vide its resolution dated 10th October, 2012 has issued orders regarding the procurement of food grains. The Procurement period for paddy is fixed from 01.10.2012 to 30.09.2013 & for coarse grains is from 10.10.2012 to 31.03.2013.

Purchase of Paddy and Coarse grains
The State Government vide its letter dated 5 th December 2012 has issued instructions regarding the milling of paddy. Milling period upto 30/9/2013.

Procurement of Wheat
Government of India has fixed the specification of Wheat under MSP for RMS 2013-14. Similarly MSP of Wheat has been declared. Accordingly State Government has issued directions to procured wheat vide G.R. dated 28.3.2013 to Marketing federation & Tribal development corporation under this scheme. At present wheat is being procured by Marketing federation & Tribal development corporation.
As on 31 st July, 2013, 22,944.11 qtl. of wheat has been procured by Marketing federation.
Levy on Rice Mills
In KMS 2012-13, the State Government vide its order dated 27 th November, 2012 has issued to collect optional levy rice. In KMS 2012-13 no Levy Rice is deposited to Food Corporation of India till today.
